Advice for Waterfront Building Site Deliveries & Rubbish Removal
At Waratah Marine, we specialise in waterfront delivery and rubbish removal for building sites along Sydney Harbour, Newcastle, and the surrounding coastline. To ensure a smooth and cost-effective experience, the following might be useful when preparing your site for warterfront acsess.
Delivering Materials to Site by Barge
Each site has acsess chalenges , the avalible depth of water, somthing to moor the barge to, the reach of the crane to the landing point Most deliveries to site will be lifted by crane from our barge or driven onto a barge at our loading wharf.
To save time and money, it’s important that your suppliers or crew pack materials properly and follow
safe loading procedures.
Rubbish Removal from Waterfront Sites
The most efficient and cost-effective way to remove site waste is to use 1T bulka bags, packed by your crew and positioned within crane reach. When you're ready, simply book a pickup. We’ll collect the bags by barge and transfer them to our Glebe Island yard, where you can provide a skip bin or tipper truck for our crane to load into.
For clean fill, it’s usually cheaper to empty the bulka bags into a truck at our yard and send it directly to a clean fill tip. (Talk to your excavation or demolition contractor.) You're welcome to send a crew member to assist and cut open the bags on-site for loading.
-
A standard tip truck holds ~12T
-
A truck with dog trailer can take up to ~25T
-
Our crane barge can carry up to 50T of gear per trip
-
The bulka bag system works for the delivery of bulk sand and stone as well
For general building matirials:
-
Use pallets, stillages or cages where possible
-
If using pallets, stack neatly and shrink wrap securely
-
Clearly label all loads with handling instructions or warnings
-
Mark the centre of gravity and lift points when known
-
Ensure weight and dimensions are clearly documented
We can lift up to 3T per crane lift (e.g., 3 x full bulka bags). For heavier lifts, contact our team to discuss options. If you're using road cases or loose items, additional crew or gangway access may be required.
Timing and Loading:
-
Schedule your deliveries to arrive at our Glebe Island yard in advance
-
If your materials arrive late and we’re waiting on trucks, extra hourly charges apply
-
If you want to deliver materials the day before, let us know so we can coordinate secure loading
-
If you leave waste in our yard there may be storage chages

For safe and efficient offloading at your site:
-
